- Maria, Parent of Junior, St. Francis High School

Executive Functioning

Through 1:1 meetings with our expert coaches, EF Sessions teach students time management, organization, prioritization, study skills, test taking skills, self-advocacy, and more!

We teach them how to manage assignments, projects, tests and quizzes. They work with their coach to plan and prioritize their workload and organize their environment. When facing challenges, they work together to improve study habits and skills, and self advocate with teachers and others. EF skills can be of enormous benefit when students are in times of transition. Moving schools, graduating from middle or high school, or even changing friend groups - all these things can be made smoother with an EF skillset.

EF sessions are generally scheduled for 1 hour, repeating weekly. Most EF students meet with their coach once or twice a week.

EF Sessions teach students time management, organization, prioritization, study skills, test taking skills, self-advocacy, and more!

Productivity

Homework help at GOALS in the los altos and cupertino bay area

From the outside, Productivity might look like a ‘study hall’, but in reality, it’s anything but that.

Taking the habits and skills learned in their executive functioning and tutoring sessions, students are guided by our Productivity staff to practice those new skills practically with their academic work. Working remotely or in our center, students do guided independent work - which can include homework, projects, studying for tests, etc - with the help of our expert Productivity coaches.

With the guidance from their EF or Content Sessions, we plan out the Productivity time with each student, identifying areas of greatest need, targeting specific skills to grow, and ensuring they accomplish their goals (whether that’s academic or otherwise!) Throughout each session, we help students stay on track, solve academic and study challenges, make progress or complete their homework and even have a good time while working.

During our Productivity sessions, staff take notes about work accomplished, behavior, and other important details. Those notes are fed back to the students’ EF and Content coaches, creating a powerful closed loop system where we can, over time, mold the program to always be the best fit for the student.

Productivity is an incredibly powerful tool for reinforcing those new habits and skills.

Productivity sessions are generally scheduled in 2+ hour blocks of time, repeating weekly on multiple days of the week.

In 1:1 session our students and their coaches work towards mastery of material rather than just memorization. They raise grades, fill content gaps, and build subject confidence and study habits. Executive Functioning skills are interwoven into everything that we do at GOALS including our content sessions.

These sessions teach students how to learn rather than just helping them with what to learn.

Content Tutoring is available in all subjects, from elementary school through college: math, science, history & social science, foreign language, AP and Honors courses, critical reading/writing skills, and more.

1:1 Content sessions are generally scheduled for 1 hour, repeating weekly. Most students meet with their coach once or twice a week.

How to build academic confidence for adhd anxiety spectrum students

“GOALS helped empower my son to become a more positive and stronger independent learner, which will be invaluable for the rest of his life. It also helped me return to the positive values of parenting, by avoiding the pit falls of homework nagging. It is an unusual place that values the individual by understanding how they need to grow in their own independent ways to reach their true potential.”
